FAUNE, FLORE ET FORTIFICATIONS

VISITE PATRIMOINE NATUREL

This experience invites you to discover the unexpected richness of the site's natural heritage.

As you walk through the fort’s glacis — those understated open spaces often referred to as gardens — and its military architecture, you’ll be surprised by the unique biodiversity that has developed at the heart of the site.

This one-of-a-kind tour also explores the complex relationship between humans and the land, highlights the vital role of nature in urban environments, and reveals how history deeply shapes our ecosystems.

You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at a lesser-known aspect of the fort’s restoration: the preservation of its natural heritage, carried out in collaboration with researchers from the Population Environment Development Laboratory (LPED) at Aix-Marseille University.
