A joint mediation tour designed in tandem
Our teams have worked together to create a mediation tour that highlights the historical and cultural connections between the Citadelle and the Château d’If. Designed collaboratively, this tour will allow visitors to better understand how these two sites resonate with the history of Marseille. It also enables our mediation teams to share and combine their knowledge, enriching the visits and offering the public deeper insight, reflection, and transmission of these shared stories.
The château d’If
Located in the heart of Marseille’s harbor, the construction of the Château d’If was ordered in 1529 by King Francis I. Used as a prison from 1541, it housed some of the most famous prisoners in French history, including the Count of Mirabeau, Philippe de Lorraine, and the legendary fictional hero created by Alexandre Dumas, the Count of Monte Cristo.
Preserved in both its setting and architecture, and known around the world, the Château d’If is a truly exceptional site of the Mediterranean.
