Call for applications for a creative residency

As part of the Récitadelles project, the Citadelle is joining forces with Aix-Marseille University and the Laboratoire d'Études en Sciences des Arts to host a 12-month residency aimed at creating a space where different interpretations of heritage can coexist.

The RECITADELLES project (Mediating narratives and plural readings of heritage) is a research-action project funded by the A*Midex foundation for a period of 12 months.

The project is supported by the LESA (Laboratoire d'Études en Sciences des Arts) and focuses on cultural mediation and contemporary creation around the issues of poly-vocality through participatory and collaborative processes of heritage interpretation.

The Citadelle de Marseille, a listed historic monument in the centre of Marseille, is the setting for this research. Its cultural and associative project places inclusion and the exercise of citizenship at the heart of its challenges. RECITADELLES aims to broaden the approaches to the creation and mediation of historical knowledge to include contemporary readings and interpretations of the space and its history.

In other words, it aims to create a space where different interpretations of heritage can coexist. The artists in residence are invited to take part in this research, in collaboration with the mediators, the bearers of memories and the local residents, by proposing a project rooted in the site and its territory, and in touch with the stories that run through it. A public presentation is expected at the end of the project.
