Metropolitan Book Fair
The event will spotlight Spain, with two major Iberian publishers as special guests and a discussion on "La Movida" — the name given to the creative cultural movement that swept across Spain during the final stages of the democratic transition in the early 1980s.
The opening night will be festive, musical, and full of light, followed by 48 events throughout the weekend. Young audiences are also expected in large numbers, with youth author meet-and-greets, a projection mapping show, a storytelling village, and around fifteen workshops specifically designed for them.
This vibrant book fair will be free of charge, so that everyone — from the youngest to the oldest — can find their place and enjoyment.
The Metropolitan Book Fair is especially meaningful in a region that is home to no fewer than 89 publishing houses, 77 bookstores, and 425 authors. Naturally, the event aims to shine a spotlight on this rich editorial ecosystem. It is also part of the Métropole’s broader initiatives to promote public reading — a key priority of its cultural policy. The book fair complements Lecture par nature, the annual metropolitan event that, through local engagement and the network of public libraries, celebrates reading in all its forms.
An event by the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis.
