As part of the City Nature Challenge, Fort Saint-Nicolas invites visitors to discover its hidden biodiversity — a natural haven in the heart of Marseille undergoing transformation. This walk encourages reflection on the preservation of flora and fauna within a constrained space shaped by military history and the imprint of the port.

To take part in the challenge, simply use the platform or the app iNaturalist and to post your observations of the fauna and flora found at the Citadelle (and throughout the rest of the city)! 

The City of Marseille is taking part, alongside hundreds of other cities around the world, in the City Nature Challenge — an annual global citizen science initiative where cities engage in a friendly competition toward a shared goal: to better understand all the living species that inhabit our urban environments.
